CHASE THE STARS — PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS AT THE ASHOKAN RESERVOIR

Learn how to photograph the night glowing skies, reflections on water, and stars stretching across the Catskills.

Join photographer Bahram Foroughi for immersive, hands-on photography classes focused on:

• Night landscapes

• Camera exposure in darkness
• Camera settings for darkness
• Composition after sunset
• Working with natural moonlight and stars

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Ashokan Reservoir, these small-group workshops are designed for beginners and experienced photographers alike. Whether you shoot with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even want to push your creativity further with minimal gear, you’ll learn how to confidently create powerful images in challenging light.

You’ll leave understanding: — How to shoot sharp stars and the Milky Way
— How to properly expose images at night
— How ISO, aperture, and shutter speed work together
— How to focus at night
— How to create long exposure images
— How to tell stories with light and atmosphere

Required Gear:
• DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual controls
• Wide angle lens recommended
• Sturdy tripod
• Shutter remote OR phone app capable of controlling your camera remotely I highly recommend a shutter remote for simplicity. Sometimes phone apps suck. Just saying.
• Headlamp with RED light mode (required to preserve night vision)

Ashokan Reservoir Access:
A valid NYC DEP Access Permit is required for all participants.
